This June, our very own Jake Archibald, a jolly talented, entertaining, and occasionally foul-mouthed web developer at The Team, will be speaking on web typography at the much anticipated DiBi Conference in Newcastle. Jake's talk, entitled @font-face – Good vs Legal will be a technical investigation into the emerging techniques for using rich typography on the web.
This is a very hot topic at the moment as modern browsers finally bring opportunities for delivering much more comprehensive fonts and typographical control to web developers. As ever in web development though, there are many pitfalls for developers and designers alike to fall into. Jake will explore a variety of techniques for bringing typography to life in the browser, drawing on recent explorations and experience from work on projects for clients such as eBay and The Industry Trust
Jake's talks at events such as FullFrontal, Fronteers and Fronttrends have earned him a reputation as a knowledgeable and entertaining speaker. His recent experiences in this field are likely to provide the fuel for another, charged and passionate talk.
You can read some background on Jake's talk in a recent interview for DiBi and catch him at the conference in June if you are quick enough to grab a ticket before they sell out.
